Nearly 10,000 of the biggest donors to Republican candidates andcauses across the country will probably receive aforeboding "warning" letter in the mail next week. The letter is anopening shot across the bow from an unusual new outside politicalgroup on the left that is poised to engage in hardball tactics toprevent similar groups on the right from getting off the ground thisfall.Led by Tom Matzzie, a liberal political operative who has beeninvolved with some prominent left-wing efforts in recent years, thenewly formed nonprofit group, Accountable America, is planning toconfront donors to conservative groups, hoping to create a chillingeffect that will dry up contributions. . . . The warning letter isintended as a first step, alerting donors who might be consideringgiving to right-wing groups to a variety of potential dangers,including legal trouble, public exposure and watchdog groups diggingthrough their lives.

I wish I could say this is not typical from those that callthemselves "liberal" or "progressive", because the only free speech that is allowed is speech that agrees with their views.
